Maths at Trinity CE VA First School is taught daily across the school (Reception to Year 4). Teachers use the National Curriculum 2014 to ensure they cover the required objectives. Children are taught number skills that they can then use and apply to other areas of maths such as measures and solving problems.
At Trinity, we have worked closely with other local schools to develop a shared progression of written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, which are taught and used by the children. Please see attachments below.
We encourage and provide opportunities for all children to use equipment to help them to develop their mathematical understanding. Where possible, teachers use cross-curricular links to develop the children’s skills and understanding of maths where the children are able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
At Trinity we use ‘Mathletics’ which is used at home as home learning activities and within school. Please refer to the maths subject policy for more information.
